In the week and a half I've owned my Expedition, the temperature control knobs have randomly gone blank 3 times. By that I mean they don't show the temperature on them when the climate control is on. When I adjust the temperature, the changes show up on the Sync screen, but the knobs stay blank until I turn off the car and let it sit for a while. Has anyone else experienced this? I've attached a pic to show what I mean. Thanks!

Does it have to do with the setting of the lights?
It has happened in the daytime when the lights are off, so I don't think it's related to the lights. If I turn off the car and come back later, they go back to normal.

I might try disconnecting the battery for a bit and see if it resets anything. Hopefully I can catch it one day when the dealer is open and drop by the service department, but it's very sporadic (only happened 3 times in 600 miles so far). Thanks guys!

Have you turn anything on or adjusted anything immediately after starting? My 06 Ford will do the same thing if I turn on climate control or radio immediately after starting. The next time it does it, try turning the headlights on and off, with the engine still running, and see if that brings up the display. The electronics are more computerized than ever and do require a short boot time.

Take a picture of it when it does it, or dealer will give you the I'm sorry we can't duplicate your condition.

Update: I took the car to the dealership today and thankfully the knobs went blank in the service bay (<- that never happens!). They installed a software update for the module but the knobs went blank again on my way out. They decided to replace the module. I don't know if that means the whole knob assembly or if there's a separate part that controls it. I'll let you know how it turns out once the part comes in and is installed.
