Seen so many advertisements for aircleaners assemblys and throttle body bolt ones. I have a 1998 XLT with the 4.6. Not interested in more performance, but if I can get aliltle better gas mileage and at the same time get some added power, hey I'll take it. Anyone with experience good or bad on the K & N or other many add on's that promise the world. Ii currently have 42,000 miles and only changes are grills top and bottom and 18" rims with Toyo 305 x 18 x 60 on it. I also seen modules that plug into the diagnostic port and can correct speedo errors from tire size changes along with tweak performance levels. Anyone try these things and are they worth it. Thanks in advance!:shootout:

Some bolt ons do work by themsleves such as a chip and nitrous and a supercharger. Filters do aid in air flow but don't give the hp advertised. Some of the add ons like bigger throttle bodies and larger maf's don't work that well on a stock motor. They need other enhancements like more aggressive cams or other internal mods. If you were to add a supercharger or turbo then you would see more benefit from various bolt ons. Just my .02

I have a 99 5.4L LLRS XLT Expy. I have a few mods that were bolt on that you can notice the difference. I travel alot of miles, enough that I have to get my oil changed on the average of 6-8 weeks. The first mod was a K & N stock replacement filter. (soon to be Air Force One) I did not have that one in long enough to evaluate the difference in MPG before the other mods (although it seemed to run smoother). I had a JDM electric fan kit installed, they claim it well free up about 18 hp and that you will get up to a 2 mpg increase. I also had the Cobra R water pump installed, which can only be used with an electric fan but your stock one will work. The cobra pump is lighter and more efficent and it will free up a few hp. Then last but not least a Super Chip tuned by JDM Engineering I am not sure what the hp increase was but it is noticeable. With all the mods combined my mpg went from 11-13mpg to 17-19 mpg. When I drive I don't run fast in traffic but most of my driving is between Tx and La and I will run between 80 -85 and as long as I don't have a bunch of stop and go traffic I get 19 consistantly. I have been running my mods for about 60k miles now and have no problems. I will take some pics soon but the fan looks so stock that Ford don't even notice. And it is a bolt on and the directions provided a good enough that if you don't have any experience you will still be able to install this yourself.http://www.teamjdm.com/

It is not clear where your pictures are located? If they are on your website then you can use the "http://" button next to vBCodes when you edit your message. If they are on your harddisk then you can only upload one at a time using the "Attach file:" option available on new post near the bottom. If they are a jpg type of picture on your website then you can use the "IMG" button to point to it. Example like below.

Thanks for the previous JDM link via this page.

FYI, I just called JDM about their Electric Fan Kit and whether it would work on the '03. They said they didn't think it would but they are planning on redoing it to work on the '03 and check back in a month or so. I'm getting an '03 EB in a few days and will wait for the fan kit. Oh well, it will give me time to check out my avg MPG and such.

Good luck. Coming from the Lightning community I know of jdm and you might be waiting for a year or 2. Check out www.troyerperformance.com Mike might be able to help you better.

More than likely they the shroud is different and they will get the new ones pretty quickly. JDM is a real good bunch of people they are the sponsors of the Top Truck Event at the Ford Fun Weekends. The just left hear last week after the FFW event and installing a built engine in my Dads 99 L. they put a mild street tune in it and it was running 12.03 1/4. They really know what they are doing.

Thanks for the information guys. I would guess there are more '03 Expeditions than Lightings so it may be more cost effective (read profitable) for them to customize the X vs L. Still doesn't hurt to have options.

This link shows dual 13.5" electric fans that will work on the '03 EB. Anyone try this yet?
