Lesson learned, I guess.
Still, in regards to the extended warranty you were suckered into, it's kind of hard to miss an extra few K added to the bill when you go to pay it... I've known people who got third party extended warranties (not from dealer) and saved a bunch + had better service in the end.
Depending on the package you buy, a powertrain-only extended warranty is usually the best. If you like all kinds of flashy electronic toys in your ride, then you need to up it, as those doo-dads tend to cost an arm and a leg when they break... and break, they will.
I'm a simple guy myself... and a body on frame 4x4 truck with just the basics is best for me. If it wasn't for the SSV package on my Expy at one hell of a deal, I would've kept my 99 Explorer XLT (simple and reliable + cheap parts).
