I've read that there its a way to bypass the requirement to have a chipped key but it involves some remote start systems. Does anyone know if there is a way to just wire around that system without remote start? I have a 2000 expy. Thank you.

What most guys do is to simply take a key that is programmed to the truck, open up the black plastic portion of the key and remove the glass cylinder that is inside of the key. Then you can open up the steering column and tape the glass cylinder to the top of the key tumbler and be all done. From there you can use an all metal key and be good.
