Working on 2017 Expedition. Had a oil leak at the timing cover so I removed it to reseal. While the cover is off I decided to replace entire timing system. I had my supplier order all the parts I needed to do the repair. All genuine Ford parts. Included is 8 of a gasket number AT4Z-6C262-C. The did not look like anything I removed during disassembly so while researching I found a page where they showed 2 of them going between each phaser and the cam shaft. SO my question has anyone encountered this before and why were they not on originally but are included in he parts kit I got. They appear to be made of a fiber type material and are not one solid circle. They have a cut in them with ends beveled I guess so they can be opened up to go around something then close up to form a circle. Also they are .062 thousands thick so 2 per cam would cause the phasers to be positioned outboard of their original location which also concerns me.

I found where they go. I removed the first camshaft bearing cap. They go on the camshafts. Explains why they are cut. So they can be installed without removing the camshafts
