Can anyone give me an idea as to what this might be?

Mechanic found this in my pan but isn't sure what it is......
To me, it looks like it could be part of a valve spring, part of a valve keeper? maybe?

Yeah. Looks like a rocker arm came apart ( usually the rear ones on the passenger side head....) . Hopefully the other half of the valve spring keeper is still locked in place and you didn't drop a valve ( new motor....) . Don't drive it. Pull the valve covers and inspect the rocker arms , valves, camshafts .... etc. You should've been hearing a big racket of noise from the heads....
Although, those codes you posted refer to the driver's side camshaft being out of whack. Pull both valve covers and inspect both sides. Was this discovery made during a timing chain job ? In that case the valve covers would already be off.

Thanks.... My Ford Mechanic (Not these Guys) changed the passenger cam, rollers, lifters out so that scrap metal was prolly left over from the last.

I replaced the driver's side cam, rollers, lifters (Brand New Ford Parts) but still getting the codes and stalling in drive. Just had this mechanic (This is who did the timing job) Re-Time it but can't figure the problem out. He also put a melling 340hv in it for me.

New tensioners installed ? The driver's side phaser isn't moving like it should for whatever reason. Hopefully it was installed correctly.

Yeah that explains why the extra parts were left in the oil pan.

Just found out that the mechanic said it jumped time again so they have to pull it apart again. Should they be checking anything special?

I also told them to check the drivers side camshaft to make sure that there isn't anything hanky going on there as well as the new tensioners....
