CAN OBDII codes

I bought a cheap reader. No codes showing. I got it mainly to find the correct cylinder where the coil pack has gone (I've done 3 of 8).

Looking at the manual, I don't see a coil pack OBDII Generic Definition beyond:

P0301 through P0308 "Cylinder # Misfire".

Would this be a reasonable assumption for a bad coil pack code the next time it happens??

Not completely following your question. Those are codes for cylinder misfire detected to corresponding cylinder. 01 equals 1 and so on..

That said this only means it detected misfire. Cause can be from several sources. COP is not always to blame. They are listed below.

Common causes can be cop, spark plug, moisture in plug well, fuel injector, or mechanical issue.
