Our car got broken into and they literally stole everything out of the car, insurance card the whole 9 yards, including the manual which has the littlel card with the code in it.

It was broken into @ work so they know where it will be and have a free way in unless I can reset that main code.

Can it be done?

Please help dont wanna be robbed again!!

I believe you can if you replace the module for it. I have had no luck finding a new one. I have seen multiple ones from used vehicles on eBay for $20-40. I hate to hear this happened to you, hopefully you can get this resolved and feel more secure.

Might try and contact a dealer. I usually don't recommend talking to the stealership but they probably have a contingency plan for when this happens. Not to mention the advice is free. They might say they can replace the aforementioned module for the low cost of an arm, but at least it gives you an idea. Then call another dealer and get the part number. Sneaky tactic I use quite a bit.

Worst case scenario (and the route I would take personally) is to open the door and unplug the keypad. Inconvenient, but free and easy. Especially if you have a key fob. Really eliminates the need for the keypad.

You can obtain a copy of the owners manual on line go to owner.ford.com You can find instructions on how to change the code but the factory code will remain as a default code. If you forgot what the code was Look under the dash on the drivers side and you will see a box that has the five digit code on it

I work as a service writer for a dealership and with the card in someone elses hands is bad. The factory code will always work even when you choose a new one. At least that is what I am led to believe from my tech. I haven't had but 3 days as a service writer haha.

I have also heard that at least on the 03-06, you can program your own code, but the original one will ALWAYS work.

I would recommend finding someone with a GenI with operable Keyless Entry, and ask if they'd swap? Then you can each program your own, and you're trusting the code to someone you kind of know rather than someone who broke in.

Thats interesting. Seems super stupid to include the card if they stamp it underneath the dash anyways... Man I am glad my truck doesn't have that. Sounds like a free pass into the vehicle...

not to mention, if you have it running to warm up in the winter. all someone has to do to lock you out is press 7-8 9-0 at the same time to lock all the doors. I am surprised these trucks don't have a lock prevention of some sort. all my past cars had it setup so that if it detected a key in the ign you couldn't lock the doors.

You cannot lock my truck while the key is in it, with the door open. Nor can you operate the Keyless entry pad on the door.

Can you also hit the "lock" button while the door is open and key in ignition, and have it work?

I dont think the OP concern was knowing the code. It was resetting it so the d-bag that stole his stuff cant just waltz in at work and pop open his truck with the code

yes on mine

My advise to the others who frequently use the keypad. Get the code card out of the truck and store it at home. Next, type in a NEW code for you to use and use that only. Reason for that is if you believe someone was watching you use the code, you can reset the new code you added. That way your factory codes are safe. Doesnt cost anything to do and it helps in the long run

Hopefully not too many theives anymore care much about first Gens and will leave our trucks alone. Why would they want to jack with a $4k truck when the guy down the street has a new one?

Had you read all of my post to the OP you would have seen that the information I posted was where he could find information on how to re-program the code I just took it a step further by letting him know where he could find the code if needed and also that the original code will remain as default
