Car accident

The other night a drunk driver slammed into my rear bumper while my car was parked. The sound of the impact I thought I lost my baby, but I was wrong. Only a little dent and the bumper is slightly bent you have to really look close. The drunk driver car was totaled. He agreed to fix the damage so the police was not involved. My main concern is what other structal damage should I look for. For some reason it feel like a need a wheel alignment can something be bent underneath.

Information was real spoke to him couple times after. I just don't to tell him everything is fine I want to make sure nothing else is effected when he slammed in, into a parked car

I would say to drive it down the road and see if things are still straight. I have heard of a lot of guys that have had people slam into the back of their X's and they had nothing more than a few scratches on the bumper. If the truck now pulls to a side, then the frame is bent and you are looking at big cost.

I hate to be a downer, but big mistake not calling the cops. Without a police report or really, any proof of fault, he doesn't have to do a damn thing now. You can't prove that he was drunk, hell, you can't even prove that he hit your car. So now if the damages turn out to be pricey, he can just give you the finger and walk away. Then, sure you could sue, but it will cost a fortune.

I'm sure that you felt like you were being 'cool' about it, and if the guy were sober, I'd probably do the same thing. But since you know that he was drunk it's a different story. I'm not sure that I could live with myself if I found out that this person was drunk driving again in a few weeks time and ends up injuring or killing someone.

tonydiv is right...forget being a nice guy...this guy was drinking and driving...next time instead of a parked car...it could be a bystander with their back towards them and run them over...so now its your words against his...you will need an alignment and its going to be about $2000 for everything to be right...this happened to my truck last summer in traffic where i was sitting in P-gear and the idiot behind me ran into me 10ft away...i guarantee the hitch may slightly be bent...new foam support (once its damage gotta replace) and other little things under there...get a new bumper and the paint/labor for that...my cost was over $1500...fully replaced everything because if you try to fix problems reoccur...

hate to say...bad move on you and you missed out on a free rental while the work gets done...if it gets done...i have ZERO TOLERANCE for DUI's...hate to say it...being a nice guy just screwed you...take it to 3 auto shops and tell them what happened and get cost comparison on the work...3 for a reason...1...the shop you like to go to...2 are the comparison for you who trust...

according to PEOPLES COURT...judge MAROLIN MILLIAN...you will win the case...but she will warn you that being that nice guy is what brought you to court to seek payment for damages...and thats all i have for you today...good luck...and now i'll turn it back over to the forum...lol

oh yeah. SCREW DRUNK DRIVERS. Thats the kind of crap you do when your young and dumb. Be a MAN and find a ride home. you should have hit him a few times then called the cops, its your word against his when they show up, who are they going to believe?
