I am planning on pulling my rear two cats and replacing them with straight pipe. Missouri doesn't do emissions testing where I live so I can get away with being "semi" legal. Is there an off the shelf 2.5 or 3 inch Y pipe that will let me run a single in dual out flowmaster 40?

What could it be then? Could be the muffler itself? I don't want to start drilling into my cats and testing them just yet. It runs fine it just sounds not as loud and I'm not getting as much flow

It can possibly be a cat clogged or going bad. Not all 4. The pipe is split. If the passenger side has a bad cat, then replace the passenger side pipe. Not both!

GET RID OF THAT Y PIPE!!!!! Delete the rear cats and just run two pipes into a Dual In / Dual out or Dual In / Single Out Flowmaster!

Trust me you will like the results and its not hard to do.

Here is my setup on my 2002 EB with the 5.4L I am running the 70 series Dual In / Single out on mine ( wish I could run duals out the back, but the rear air dosn't easily alow it )

I'M not sure that I understand. I live in Texas it's required that we have cats

If I where you I would get rid of the 4 factory cats and just run a total of 2 after market cats ( 1 cat per side in between the o2 sensors ).

It will still pass smog checks and Texas will leave you alone on your inspection since you do have cats under the truck.

This would be the cheapest way to go and give you the best performance as well.

Hopefully I can find someone to make me a true dual setup for around $300, the best quote I have gotten so far is $450, and he even said it might cost more. How can a couple (or three) sticks of aluminized tubing, two stainless slash tips, and a flowmaster cost almost $500? I can go online and buy a full stainless muffler back setup for about the price.

You are not paying for product with custom.....You are paying for someones expertise and time!

After a stressful day I finally went to a muffler shop that wasn't tryin to screw me and they said there was nothing wrong. They went a head and did a pressure test and it came out good. They said it was in my head. I have one off topic question. Im going to change my front rotors. Can anyone tell me the bolt or thread size? It's either a 12 or 14mm I'm not sure because the bolts themselves are 19mm. I have a 2000 xlt 5.4 4wd

if anyone finds out a way to put 1-in/2-out duals...or true duals on an 04...LET ME KNOW!!!

Only seen one dude on cardomain to it I believe it was a white 04 eb and he dropped the spare and trailer hitch and ran duals out where our trailer hitch is looks pretty sweet but one day ill need to tow something or use my spare so that's not a possibility for me

mootoo you have low pros y do u need a spare? dont think it will fit there anyways does it? if u dont have a spare u can run pipes one out each side. and if you bag your truck put a good compressor and tank and get a hose to fill tires and a can of fix a flat. :D

Can you delete all 4 cats or does that require a tune? ive been chasing problems since buying this POS and im down to injectors or cats at this point. !cats would be cheaper and easier, as If they ARE the problem, I dont know which ones are bad.
thanks.

you need cats...do a cat delete which will remove the last cat on each side...

you dont have to have cats, none of my other vehicles do but i dont know if I can get away with removing all 4 on this one without a tune. Theres a chance that the front 2 are clogged.

On a side note, flowmaster makes a y merge.. theyre used alot on fbodies to create custom y pipes. you could use one to split single into duals.
