I've noticed that my phone disconnects and reconnects to the Bluetooth system for no apparent reason. I'm using a Samsung S9. Anyone else having this problem.

I have a samsung s9+ and have not run into this problem in my 2018 expedition.

Is it frequently doing this or just once in a while?

I notice it almost every time I drive the truck. I see the messages come up on the Sync screen. "...Phone Disconnected" then "...Phone Connected"

is that the only bluetooth device in the vehickel?
Bluetooth is a one only connection scheme

I was going crazy with my android I use for navigation connecting to my bluetooth speaker (or not connecting more accurately). Then I realized my iPhone was hogging the connection at times blocking the android out. Took me 2 years to figure out

Things I would try if it were me....

Clear all Bluetooth connections from vehicle and clear your phone of the expedition. Then reconnect.

Test another phone for a while in vehicle if that doesn't work.

All else fails take to dealer

I have one Android connected to the blue tooth. I have had your problem since it was new. I have supplied pictures of the SYNC message to the dealer a couple times but they say they can't duplicate the issue. The dealer has done a Master reset, Disconnected the battery for another attempt for a reset, updating all software and it still does it. There has been some that have had success replacing the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) but that is a challenge to get the dealer to do that. Others have given up and just connected the cell phone via USB and that corrected the problem. Frustrating.

I have experienced this issue as well with my S10 and S8+.. Also.. The wireless charger will not continually charge any of our Samsung phones.. No case on any phone.. Note 5, S10, S8+. Going to bring it up at the dealer at our first scheduled oil change.

I have similar issues with samsung phones on other bluetooth connected devices. I think it is a samsung issue. It does do it in the expedition too.

Mine charges OK, but the connection issue is annoying. I'll probably just ignore it until I go back to the dealer for something else.

We have ours set for two iPhones. Sync will connect to whichever phone is in the car when you start it under the following priorities: if the wife is using the car, it connects to her phone. If I drive it, it connects to my phone; and if we're both in when I start it, it connects to my phone (primary).

If his is like mines, its not the connecting thats the issue. It connects to a phone just fine for a set amt of time(20-30min) then disconnects and reconnects multiple times sporadically. My wife and i both have the same lg phone, and it does it to both our phones, but hers less so. However, on hers though it disconnects less,, it gives off static when shes on the phone or listening to music. Like i told the dealer, we had the same phones when i had my navi and never had an issue like this with it, why its doing this in a brand new vehicle is beyond me and unanswerable to them

Mine connects just fine initially too, but it periodically disconnects and reconnects for no apparent reason. I don't think it's ever done it while I'm on the phone, but I do see the messages on the Sync screen.

Oh it is not good when you are on the phone and it disconnects and reconnects and disconnects and reconnects. We were talking to my wife's aunt and it was a pain. We considered calling her back not using the bluetooth technology in the Expy.

So, I’m at the dealership right now with my 2016 Expedition, 28K miles and 1 month out of warranty.

This is a follow up to replace the APIM. Symptoms and verification on the previous service visit was loss of function when my iPhone 8+ was connected via USB. Any call or notification from the phone would lock up Sync. I was also experiencing GPS loss, reverse camera was also staying on once in Drive as someone else reported.

Today they installed the new APIM and the symptom remains the same. Was advised that it was probably a software glitch and they had contacted Ford Engineering as they had two vehicles reporting the same issue. They suggested upgrading to include ApplePlay which they are doing. Obviously this will be a work around as the real problem exists either with the APIM or the Software.

I’d be interested if anyone else had a similar experience along with any updates. Ford need to look into this and address it. I’ve heard a case is in place against Ford for the APIM and it’s a manufacturing issue so in my mind the current version of APIM is faulty and when a fix is available, should be a recall FOC correction.

I took my '18 to the dealer to address the connection problem and a few other small issues. They said my APIM would not respond to their efforts to update it and they are replacing it. I'll let you know how it works.
