Ok so my check engine light came on the other day. I went to Big Wheel to hook up the obd2 and it just shuts off. I have used two different obd2 machines and they both do the same thing, when the ignition is on they just shut off. Any ideas? They think the plug is bad but they've never seen one go bad

When they hook up the OBD2 machine, the machine shuts off? Or does the machine just not read the port?

Don't know off the top of my head the fuse number, but both the OBD2 port and the cigarette light share a fuse (I think why you aren't supposed to use the cig lighter as a power outlet). If that blew, it would make the port seem dead.

The two different machines would shut off. Just plain shut off, I could hit the button again and it would power back up.

Which fuse was it? I have the same problem on a 2004 EB Expedition.

Check engine light is on, and I went to Autozone to have it checked.

I checked fuses with a multimeter and they all came up good. In addition the volume and memory from the steering wheel arent working either, i wonder if they are all tied in.

thanks in advance for the fuse number.

What did Autozone say it was? Or could they not read it? If the OBD port doesn't work, check fuse 41 (or w/e your manual says is for the lighter and OBD ports.)

Autozone said just that, it was the OBD port.

Checked the owner manual and the 41 fuse was indeed broken, replaced it and went back.

Autozone then said it showed the gas cap was not put on at one time which set it off. I disconnected the battery to reset it, it has been 10 miles so far and nothing has come on.

thanks for the help
