Clicking noise at or near Transmission

I hear a clicking noise that gets louder and faster as I accelerate. The sound seems to be coming from the transmission or right around that area. I don't notice any slipping of the transmission at all while driving. Someone please help me out. It is a 06 Expedition 2WD. Thanks.

4WD or 2WD? If 4wd, I would recommend troubleshooting the IWE solenoid. I've got a clicking sound like the rear wheel of a bicycle on the passenger side and the IWE won't engage. I checked this by lifting the vehicle and spinning the tire. If you see the CV shaft spin, it is engaged. Fire up the truck(with wheels in the air) and switch to 4H and try the spin again. The vacuum created by the engine should draw the gears away from the wheel and the tire should spin freely with no CV axle motion.

Just my $0.02.
