Cold air intakes

Looking to install a cold air intake in my 06 expedition. Been looking at a few and just wanted to get other peoples input on previous experience with them.

@svt_amg did you get rid of the cat when you put the straight pipe in? Also is there a heat shield for the air filter or is it just sitting in the engine bay like that? Any noticeable HP gains?

To answer your first question, I didn't take out the cats. 2nd, there's no heat shield. To tell you honestly, I wasn't interested in any gains because I'm pretty sure it wasn't gonna be noticeable. I just wanted the sound. I will be installing a heat shield when I find one.
