hi Friends,
I have 1998 Expedition, 5.4L, 4X4 EB,
I have a problem of coolant leaking.
When I turn on the heater, leaking is tiny.
But if I turn off the heater, leaking coolant is lots of amount on the upper of the pipe on the passenger side.

Find out if the pipe is leaking or a joint. If it is the pipe one option is to replace the pipe. The other is to use a rubber hose and section the leaking part out of it.

Where is Port Hardy?

About my observation.

Under my car, only I can see the photo that I showed you.
If you know the name of the pipe or joint, please give me more information.
I will research it from Ford Manuel and check it under my car.

As a missionary worker, I am working for the first nation people.
Port Hardy is located on the north side of Victory island in Canada.

Thank you for giving me your knowledge.

I looked on FordParts.com for the heater tubes. After seeing that they want more than $500 per tube, I would replace them with rubber heater hoses.

Blessings...^.^

I can see 1999 FORD EXPEDITION 5.4L V8 : Heat & Air Conditioning : Heater Hose / Pipe from Rockauto parts.
lots of sizes... which one will be the common problem? It is a difficult question.

If someone has the same situation like me, please share your story for me.
I need to research more, but I want to know more story and the price.

Thank you. Frankly speaking, I need to repair my car by myself.
It is so tough.

Thank you all.

The Result

I went to O.K Tires. They researched my car and gave me a paper.
They said that the intake head gasket should be changed.
They suggested $3000.

So just I back to my home and inform this information.

Please give me some info.
Is it hard job? I have the experience that I changed the heater core of 1998 explorer.

if I need to change it, please give me what I should buy new items like gasket and anything else?...

Thank you and bless you all.

From Paul.

Run away from that shop and don't ever go back. $3000 is a joke. There are intake manifold gaskets and separate head gaskets on this engine.

First step in diagnosis is to find the leak.

Most decent shops will pressurize the cooling system and will be able to show you where the leak is at. From that point you can get an honest quote.

I order some product for leaking coolant.

I ordered CRC 401232 Permanent Head Gasket & Block Repair with Nanotechnology yesterday.

I read the reviews from Internet.

It is very impressive. After trying this, I will give you my review.

If you have any experience about changing cylinder head gasket.
Let me know.

Thank you for giving your opinions.

Bless you all.
