I am going to change the coolant on my 99 expedition 4.6. We have napa and lordco pretty close so can anyone advise me on which coolant to buy.

Better to keep the same type of coolant that the oem recommends. They come in various colors but are based on two types of glycol - ethylene or propylene. They do not mix. Look for one that is labeled ELC extended life coolant, in concentrate and mix your own 50/50 with distilled water.

Don't buy the premixed, just wasting your money.

i agree. go buy concentrate and buy a 2 gallon of distilled water. it ends up being about the same price and you get 2 gallons worth instead of 1.

Could u make the prestone pic a little bigger, i cant quite see it. Actually my eyes burned from the brightness of the yellow but i def agree, i am swapping in prestone.

I bought some green coolant at o'reilly's today and distilled water at walmart.It's made for ford pre 2002.And it protects aluminum.I also bought a hydrometer and mixed it tell it got to -34 or so.
