More of a dealer issue if you ask me. The dealer I I bought the car from is not accepting liability for a crack in my windshield. Before I picked the car up they changed it out for a new one, which would tell me that it has either been improperly fitted or there is an issue with the car itself. Either way, I haven't made my first payment on the car yet, which is due this Friday, and I'm wondering if I should just take the car back to them and forget about it. I don't want to get the windshield replaced and find it cracks again another two weeks down the road.

Any thoughts ?

Don't pay and they repo the car. If you have full coverage INS they cover the windshield. If not it is yours.
If you have time by law to return it you might consider doing so. Is this a major dealer or one of these scumbags on the corner type?

That'll be the scumbag on the corner type. That's why I'm thinking of letting them have the vehicle back before I pay out on it. I'd sooner do that and then go and get the same kind of vehicle from a Ford dealer.
