Hello experts...gotta big problem. The other day I drove to work as usual, nothing out of the ordinary. At lunch I got in my Expedition (98, 5.4, 4wd) and it was dead. No click, no nothing. Popped the hood and found that the battery cables were severely corroded. I tried wiggling the cables first and was able to get it to ding a couple times when i turned the key but then it everything went dead again. At that time I heard clicking from the area where the fuse box is and it clicked a few more times even when the battery cable was disconnected. The clicking stopped and examining the cables further found they were basically rotten to the core. Called my local Ford dealer (Galpin) and ordered replacement the positive cable assemby as the negative didn't seem too bad. Installed the new positive assembly and it's still dead dead dead. I've order the negative assembly but fear I'll still have a dead truck. Test the battery, it's fine. Checked at the fuses that could be checked visually and there fine too. My question: What could it be if not the cables? That relay sound...does that mean i need to replace a relay? how will I know which one? are there other fuses to look at? theres a power distribution black thing under the hood on the drivers side....whats in there? Omg this sux!
