Saw a 10 go for 19k with 160k kms 100k miles,

I'm thinking I'll look into a new engine and keep the turbo idea going .

40k is just too much

A new engine for your 07? For my money, I'd just keep looking for a fully bone stock 17 with low miles. The ecoboost is a fantastic motor with gobs of power your 07 could only dream of having, and gets better mpg. They sold loads of XLTs with the 202a luxury package which can be had for significantly less than a limited trim model. Being 3 years old at this point and the last year of the old body style, you should start to see more and more of them coming on the market as people upgrade. I love mine, but don't plan on keeping it past 100k (that's when my warranty runs out). Of course by that time I'll have no need for such a big vehicle to haul kids anymore and will downsize so I can get a pickup again (with an ecoboost for towing of course).

An Ecoboost can only dream of having boosted 5.4 V8 power, which is what he’s pondering. That being said I would still take a 17 first with powertrain warranty and newer everything lol.

Well I got an extra block pending. A hx35 turbo and fuel pump injectors hptuners. A dyno so I could possibly have this together by Aug. If this covid doesnt screw everything up lol.

Right now I'm just pondering ideas and then later I'll set a plan on motion.

I beg to differ. These are all 3.5 ecoboost graphs. Tune only. 5.4L v8 would have it’s doors blown off, especially after the ecoboost gets the typical upgrades of downpipes and Intercooler

The 3.5 has direct injection (like my snowmobile) and that's a tough contender to beat.
New ones (15-current f150 and 18- current expedition) have both DI and port built into the 2nd gen 3.5 motor

I think the 3.5 is an amazing engine. But I've seen a good amount of 600 plus hp 5.4s

40k for the expedition
I can turbo my current or supercharge it for 8I

Right now it's a bad time to do a project.

A properly built Modular V8 will put down anywhere from 500-800 horsepower depending on boost application and head layout (4.6 vs 5.8, 2V vs 4V etc)...the newest iteration (5.0) is capable of 1,000 hp. No replacement for displacement and CFM when you hit the strip.....that hopped up ‘18 Eco is eating 5.0 dust.
