I have the original battery in my 2023 Expy Limited SPP. My NOCO Genius charger has a desulfate setting. So I have questions.

1) Is desulfating a good thing for AGM batteries? (This is my first AGM equipped vehicle).

2) Should I connect the charger directly to the battery (bypassing the BMS) to spare the BMS sensor the desulfating signals? (or in case the sensor attenuates them somehow) ?

Thanks in advance.

You can desulfate AGM no problem. I’d go directly to battery if it was me, but I have no specific information to back it up. Just doing what I’ve done.

I'm surprised you have the original battery. I've gone through 4 batteries on my 2022 Expedition Platinum. Ford paid for them all so after the warranty I put in a new DieHard battery which is great.

Yeah, in hindsight its probably been failing for a while but at this point I am past warranty.

My driving habits (how often, how far, etc) are VERY consistent and I noticed the truck going in to low power mode more often (updates failing, no animation on the screen when opening the door, etc). I replaced it and see a huge improvement. Now it works like it used to.

I just wish if the computer KNOWS it needs to conserve power that it would freaking TELL ME instead of masking the issue.

Whatever you do with Desulfating Battery… UNHOOK the battery totally from the car before you desulfate.
What the NOCO does is it puts more voltage like 16V- 16.5V out and slightly pulses the battery for a specific time. This feature is great and used it a few times.

Here is my prediction. You run that desulfation mode with your NOCO on that H6 battery, you will find that there hasn’t anything changed in capacity.
All I do is charge it fully 2-3 times and call it good.
