Did Ford update the transmission control algorithm recently?

Not sure if it's only illusional. Somehow, I feel the transmission works smoother than what it did before the most recent three updates. The transmission used to be a little rough when downshifts from 5 to 3 or 4 to 3, and it was more noticeable when the tranny temperature hit 160F and above. But recently I feel it works much smoother.

I haven’t noticed any updates. Did some tunes on a couple 2020 f150s this past week that had the latest ford updates and everything looked the same.

Weirdly, I feel the same too with my 2020 but mine was updated back in April/May. Don't know if it's due to cooler ambient temperatures as winter comes, but will keep an eye on the trans temp gauge to see.

I can confirm definitely not on 2018-2021 Expeditions.

Even local dealerships have no idea, ask a Ford tech or service person and you'll get 15 different answers.

That said, I know for a fact on 21 and up F150s and possibly 22 and up Expeditions, Ford can push OTA updates via Sync. These updates can change not only the APIM (radio) units, but also BCM and all the other modules. Presumably these can include PCM upgrades as I have seen people get locked out of their tune files after an OTA update, requiring a strategy update within the tune file.
