Did some suspension and cosmetic work. I like the outcome.

2” rear spring spacers
New springs
New hubs
New cv axles
New shocks
New ball joints
New rear shocks
New upper trailing arms

Removed running boards!! Finally. And found a rust hole‍♂️IMG_5527.jpeg

Next on the list is new torsion bars and keys.

All done in a weekend. By my self. Don’t let it scare you. Just make sure you use your head. Leverage is your friend! Especially if you’re working on the ground. Be safe.

The hardest part for me, was trusting the jack, the other jack, and the stands. She’s Heavy!

I will say, the trailing arms were the worse of it. They were factory torqued. And thread locked. Heat was sketchy near the brakes but show and steady won the race.

After looking at it I should have just done the lowers while I was in there. They aren’t horrible yet. But time and money always play a factor and I ran out of that.

I’m looking for a better torsion bar and lower control arm setup. They are difficult to find for 1st gens.

That is awesome! The only way I could get that done in a weekend would be to drop it off at your place on Friday. Some things do scare me and springs is probably #1.

Nice work ! Yes, the lower ball joints carry all the weight. So look them over closely.

Nice work! May I ask you a question or two? Been working on our Highlander, now moving up to work on the big boy, 2020 Expedition. Want to DIY an oil change on the big girl.. and trying to think through safest way to do it.. I know some folks are able to pull it off without jacking at all? I can give it a try, but does seem like it will be tight. What are your thoughts? I have 6-ton jackstands as well as a 3ton floor jack. If I was to lift her a bit, what's the best spot to jack her from..on my 2012 highlander I've got a front jack point as well as a rear one and then position stands under the pinch welds.. I'm guessing o the expedition stands would go somewhere near where the manual recommends

Greetings, Mangoman.

When I jack up my '97, I use the crossmember right under the engine. Your 3-ton floor jack is sufficient for this. Place your jack stands under the frame on left and right side maybe 2 feet behind your front axle. There should be a nice flat spot on the frame rails. Your 6-ton stands are good.

My '97 is a 4WD and I can get under her to change oil and filter without jacking her up.
