Hi Guys,

I've been spending some time researching back up camera options for my 06 Limited to go along with my new Pioneer in dash unit i'm going to install soon. I've been looking for something as close to OEM and stealth looking as possible. I didn't find any direct fitments for the 2003-2006 models; However, I did come across this direct fit model for the 2007-2011 models - installs in the place of one of the license plate light bulbs in the rear tail gate:

Anyone know whether this could potentially also fit in the 2003-2006 model? I never looked at the tailgate of an 07-11 model; but what are the chances that the license plate bulb assembly is entirely different from the 03-06 models?

What do you guys think? Any guidance is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

^^ yeah saw that one too but it is wayyyyy too expensive. I purchased the OEM fit camera and waiting for it to come in. I called the guys at the store to see if they had any measurements, but no luck.

I'll let you guys know how it goes. I took out the license plate light bulb assembly from my 06 and it looks identical to the shape and size of the one pictured. It might require some minimal trimming at the most.

tsingson & freeway - the light for the license plate is built in. Its off to the right of the camera in that picture

nice, yeah definitely a nice cheap solution. Resolution looks good too.

The one from truck & Fancy is the closest to OEM that's reasonably priced. I'm constantly hitching my trailer to the truck, so really looking forward to having a camera..

i have my hitch covered so thats not an opt for me...

Drill it center mass of the cover? There's an RCA and power connector on 95% of cams (easily removable) if you have to tow. I'll post pics if u want to see

WHOISMOOTOO - where did you find one with grid lines for $20 - or is that built in to the head unit. I am running a kenwood but could not find a reasonably priced one with grid lines. I have about a $25 camera on me and it has worked awesome - but mine is up at the top of the plate. Thanks, Mike

ebay... I've played around with 3 different cams (on my truck and friends) from ebay and they've all had the lines .... and some of the sony's have the option built in as an option
