disconnecting the a4wd

I am looking into disconnecting the a4wd has anyone done this and is it a good idea or a bad one? I hate when it locks the 4x4 in at different times it drives me crazy. also is there a diagram of where the wires are? any help would be much appreciated.

MY 2000 had it too all i did was pull the fuse

Which fuse did u pull? I looked in the manual but there is a few fuses for the power train so I dont want to yank the wrong one.

I think that he's talking about the 104 fuse under the hood. Im having a problem with mine trying to engage at slow speeds and when turning. Im trying to find out about this g200 ground that is mentioned in a TSB relating to issues with the transfer case. I started a post a minute ago so we will see what happens and I will try to keep it updated.
