Okay so i had a complete full tune up done back in March and i was told AFTER i picked my expo up that 2 of my coil packs were cracked and may need to be replaced. Welp, i think it's about that time lol before the tune up it would shake a little when reversing but soon as i put it in drive it would stop! It only happened a hand full of times but now it's starting to do it again. Since the tune up I've driven maybe 3-4k miles so do i need to change all the plugs or can i just get away with replacing all 8 coil packs? #3 coil was changed back in January.

I think that if you have the money, you're better off replacing all the coils at once. I wouldn't worry about the plugs, they should clean up on their own.

I did the one at a time thing as the coils would go bad, but then just decided to pick up the whole set from Summit (cheaper than one at a time) and do them all. Mainly, because they always seem to die at the at the worst time. I kept the newest 'used' one as a spare, just in case.

Ryan, well, I will put it to you this way. I have had to replace 3 COPs on my truck and I diagnosed all 3 by looking at the tops of the COPs and replacing the one that had a crack in it. I also confirmed it using the engine codes that came up. now, with that being said, some guys have had their boots go bad, leading to the spark jumping around the plug (ie, through the boot). So, there is some truth to the boots going bad too.

Like was mentioned, replace the COPs. You do not need to replace the plugs too. As for how many COPs to replace, some will say all 8, others will say only as needed. If you have the money and don't want to worry about it in the future, replace all 8. If you are strapped for cash, then only get what you need.

Than I wouldn't wait, you can buy a set of coils for around 70 bucks on Amazon

I was chasing a misfire before my trip to Myrtle in May and it ended up being bad spark plugs, the shop actually took pics of the old plugs and gave it to me with my invoice- they were all corroded up and some had a huge gap= changed them out and it runs fine now

Doubt if Spark plugs are the issue given they only have about 3-4k miles on them! Now i did price 8 coils for about 65 bucks on ebay. I'm going to buy them now and i'll go to my reg shop and let him change them all! This may have nothing to do with this issue but today i went under the truck becus i heard a rattling sound and come to find out the muffler clamp was just swaying back and forth hitting against the pipe. I took the muffler clamp off (very rusted ) since their was one on their becus on the new flowmaster. Maybe the guy forgot to take it off.... idk
