Does anyone on here know Ford OBDii well?

I'm using the Torque for Android App with my 98 Expedition. Does anyone have experience with Ford OBDii and Ford PIDs? I was hoping to figure out the PIDs for a couple things.

The first one is Torque Converter lockup. There should be a PID that says if it's locked or not.

Also, the individual "Cylinder Misfire" sensing. I assume that if I can get a Trouble code of "Cylinder 3 misfire", that it should be able to monitor it real-time.

still haven't gotten the torque converter lockup figured out, but I did get Transmission Temp, which is good to know.

Please keep Me posted I am really interested in this I was using this app for another vehicle. would love to get some in depth infor for our fords. Can you post info on the Transmission temp and how you got it? We should sticky this and get everyone with a Droid working on this, this could be a great tool!

I have a extra Megasquirt ECU, And was thinking of installing in my Expy just to run a few certain things like electric fans, and other accesories like that.

I know it won't help you exactly but with the edge CS you can visually see when the TC locks in and out... so should be able to find a way to do it for your setup

Joe,
The trans temp is actually included in the FORD PID list that you can add. It says it's for the Power Stroke, but "method 2" works for mine. Method 1 seems to track the coolant temp almost exactly, but method 2 usually gives me 125F once everything gets warm.

Once someone finds an equation that works, Ian (developer) usually adds it to an update.

Originally I had the Trans Temp in as a Custom PID, but I had to get a new phone and when I re-downloaded the app, it was included, so I didn't have to do it again.

I think it was PID 221674 Equation ((A*256)+B)/8 Units is F. Min/Max 0/ 250 or whatever you want.

I run the same thing in my race car. Long story short its a stand alone engine management system, the code was and is written by car enthusiasts and DIY'ers like us. THey were sick of paying thousands for Management systems so they wrote code that can be used by building your own ECU from scratch using parts you can get at any electronics supply house. You can control everything from timing to fuel maps and boost levels NOS. You can run wasted spark or coil on plug if you dont have it, its really a universal engine management system with lots of extras. If your not forced induction I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you want to build your own custom tune from scratch. there is a few tunes users are sharing for the 4.7 from the Mustang crowd but...

Anyway I'm thinking of using it as more of a piggy back system to run other things like fans and paddle shifters and maybe some AV stuff.
I guess thats enough rambling about MS.lol

I read something online somewhere and the Torque-App helped me confirm it.

Perhaps this is old news and I am the last to know. I'll admit, I've never been a Ford guy.

I read that FORD rear wheel drive vehicle transmissions are set up that if you put the automatic shifter into 2 on the selector, it locks into 2nd gear. This is for pulling out in the snow to limit wheel slip due to the extra torque of 1st gear. I learned this about Crown Vics, but my Expedition (4wd) does it too.

Most vehicles (my Dodge included) when the shifter is on position '2', the truck starts in 1st gear, but will not go higher than 2nd.

I put a gear indicator on the screen and when I put the shifter into drive, neutral, 1 or reverse, it indicated 1. When I put it on 2 the display indicated 2 and I can feel the transmission "doing something". I can also tell when I pull out that I have no power.

One thing that seems iffy though is over drive. Sometimes it indicated gear 4 and sometimes it shows gear 3 even though it's in OD.
