Hello to all. I'm new to this site. Nice place to hang out. My question is as follows. I just bought my second Expedition from a private sale. It's a 2000 XLT 4x4 5.4. The truck only has 79,000 showing on the clock. No rust whatsoever. Guy had it rustproofed. When I bought the truck, it was pointed out to me that the window lift will not pull the window down on the drivers door. It supposedly is making funny binding noises when activated. If you look at the4 top of the door frame above the window, it does not meet flush with the vehicle structure. I haven't tore into it yet, I just got the truck home yesterday from Boston area. Does this sound like a tweaked door frame or maybe the window has become mis-rigged and is causing the door frame to be jacked out of shape. I would say there is about a good 1/8" to 3/16" clearance between the upper door frame and the vehicle itself. Of course you can hear lots of wind noise going down the road. Sorry for the lengthy post. Jay.

PS: I made this post just thinking these Expo's may have a history of this. I did a Carfax, and it comes up clean and free of accidents. I have no reason to believe the truck has been hit. Although anything is possible.

Sounds like the keys got locked in the vehicle and no body had a slim jim. I have seen doors exactly like that when the door was pulled back with a crow bar to slide a coathanger in to hit the door lock switch. You can try to bend it back, just make sure your window is down or else it will fight you.

Thanks, that makes sense. Never thought of that. I think I will have my body guy tackle it. I don't want to screw it up any worse than it is.

But on the other hand, it does have the keyless entry feature with keypad. It might have gotten broken into, or someone just plain forgot the code. The seller never made mention of how it happened. He only owned the vehicle for a couple of years.

I wouldnt be too worried about it, window motors or regulators go out after a while on alot of vehicles. Just about every one of my vehicles/trucks (Expedition, Bronco, Altimas) have had a window problem just like you describe. My 97 Expedition had the exact same problem as yours and it cost me $50 total to fix it. Luckily in Los Angeles, there are window repair shops ALLLL over LA area. Junk yards galore with every part you can think. I can get All my windows tinted, window fixed and a front windshield for $270

I guess I'll look into it soon. It's just annoying with the light wind noise I get going down the road.
