dumb newbie question about radio buttons

got a 2008 EB last May 2011,, I still don't know what the "phone" button is on the stock radio. When i push it,, nothing happens. Is this to set up a bluetooth phone? I had an '01 EB years ago, and I remember the phone button on the steering wheel controls that muted the radio. No clue what this one does,, and can't find it in the manual.

It seems to just mute the radio.

Unfortunately on the 07 and 08 Expys it does NOTHING!!!! Supposedly it was put there for bluetooth but they never followed through until 09.
I know some of the Lincolns had it functional though.
