Went to check out the dvd player in our 03 Expy and it appears there's a dvd in it. It plays but it won't eject the dvd. Is there a way to remove manually w/o tearing the player apart.

Removing a CD/DVD
1. Press the STOP/EJECT control to stop playback.
2. Press the STOP/EJECT control again to eject the CD/DVD.
If the CD/DVD is not removed within the allotted time, the system will
pull the CD/DVD back into the system for safety purposes. If the
CD/DVD will not eject from the system, press and hold the EJECT
control for approximately 2 seconds. The disc should eject whether the
vehicle ignition is ON or OFF.

Sounds like it is time to open up the dvd player. You may check the eject switch to see if it works with a meter, or just short the leads.

When I push the eject switch the motor runs but just doesn't eject the dvd. Just doesn't make any sense.

As stamp has said it could be the switch is bad

Is the DVD running before you press the eject button?

Don't know if I am helping here at all but I had a DVD player in my home which had the exact problem, I heard the motor run but no ejection. I found that using some force and prying the try open while the motor ran made it open as normal. Not recommending this to you just simply a suggestion. Tweezers maybe could work for you if you could pry out the disc but I'm unsure.

Finally got the DVD to eject from my Navigator, by letting down the screen, starting the movie, then bumping the bottom of the DVD player with my fist (closest to my pinky finger) while selecting eject.... the stuck disk was a DVD RW.... original DVDs were tested afterward and inserted and ejected properly...
