edge question

i have been driving the expy alot lately and sometimes she makes me proud and other times i wanna push her off a clif. while driving on the highway i feel like the expy is always hunting for gears. dropping from 3rd to overdrive back and fourth. the other thing is sometimes i feel like the tq converter is slipping or something it feels like im trying to pull a house.

would and edge fix this? im thinking the firmer shifts should help with acceleration but im curious about the gear hunting. it feels like ford made a lousy choice in gears for this truck at 65 she is constantly hunting for the right gear

The Edge will defiantly make a nite and day improvement...I love mine and it has paid for itself in fuel mileage savings already...you can firm up the shift points and it gets real snappy....it brought my 5.4 to life...if you need more info let me know and I can send you some contact info for Edge products and who to talk to too...its the best 400 i spent...

gas mileage? i lost some from my hypertech. but besides that its great! keep an eye on everything and firms up the shifts a lot.

If you are constantly popping in and out of overdrive, take it out of overdrive.
You must drive a lot different than me or in a lot different conditions. I have a 4.6L 2wd, run 65-80mph on the highway and mine never hunts unless I press real hard on the gas.
I pull a 3000 lb boat at 65 and it stays in OD most of the time without hunting.
Just guessing here but maybe you have a transmission or modulator problem.

also check for brakes grabbing , this could cause it to hunt gears as well , anything dragging on the drivetrain can

Sounds like you might have a trans problem. Mine started doing the same as you described this spring and now i have a sag in OD. It also started to get the 3-4 shudder around that time also.

i have had it checked by a couple respected transmission shops in tn and in az and all of them said its normal on these things. the shop in tn told me that he sees it alot in the expys but it never seems to cause much of a problem he said the only thing my transmission really has problems with is the tq converter. if i do 70 plus i seem to stay in OD it just seems like 65 is that inbetween point on this thing... like that speed that it just cant make up its mind... but its not all the tame this truck really is tempermental i can go down the same road everyday at 50 hit the gas and sometimes it will downshift and go and other times it just wants to stay in OD and slowly speed up. im almost thinking tq converter but i hope a programmer fixes it. im beggin for one for christmas if i dont get one ill charge it and make payments lol

If you don't have the problem at 70mph+ and don't get a controller for Christmas you can just drive faster.

i normally do thats how i actually forgot about the issue but in my strive for seeing bettter then 13ish on the highway i was driving the speed limit for once. believe me i drive home from work at 0400 hrs at 80-90 daily
