my 98 4.6 has a rusty pipe from the drivers side exhuast manifold up to the throttle body.. Im assuming htei is EGR related as i can find pipe on ebay that appear to fit this discripton. Anybody replaced one of these? The nut is fairly large but extreally rusty on the exhaust side.. Im thinking worst case i can just take a side grinder and grind it and split the nut, once off the threads should clean up enouhg to put a new on..

I'm only asking as most jobs (so far) on this truyck that I imagine are going to go so-so have been far beyond that.. Plugs, while not "never again" hard.. where quite simpley a long job. I just had a new exhuast donut put int he passenger side and both bolts broke and had to be retapped.. pretty much all my fixes have went to about double the time I expect.

its an ugly rusty thing.. but hte exhuast leak is annoying. I know in the past i have deleted them, but I assume on this it will cuase problems (havent dleted one in 10 or more years on a car that was most lilley 10 years old then.. so 20+ year old cars).

Yep..its egr tube. I just did a complete swap with built motor, etc... and new headers so know rust on it.

Sounds as if you already know what your doing.

Just soak well as you can in penetrating oil before attempting removal...
