Hola.. yes i am new..and yes i tried the search feature!!:D

A little background.. I got this 00 expy new in 00 sold it to my bro-inlaw in 03 just flew up to NYC to get it saturday.. bro said check engine light was on ..so he took it to a shop in ny and they said it coded egr.. so the fella cleans the valve and the light goes out but comes back on in 2 days he takes it back... picks it up and light is off... kewl right!!

I take it to get state inspection today.. it coded egr again.. and check engine light does not work anymore...

QUESTIONS!!

could i try and get over by removing and cleaning all egr realted hoses, lines and hardware? I know that clogged hoses and lines will still code egr if egr is replaced and hoses are clogged or dirty..

or should my cheap ass just replace them?

I am not going to a stealersgip.. so which online source do you suggest?

Thank You!!

That is probably the EGR flow sensor and not the EGR valve. Those things get gummed up with carbon after a while. Ford actually measures EGR flow and not just the EGR position.

Shit that Sensor is the most expensive part!

Tube is 65 at stealership and i believe sensor is over 100.00

i know i could prolly get cheaper on net, but i dont want to wait.. have to get it inspected b4 11/01/06

try cleaning the tubes with compressed air and gently clean out the sensor. Then clear the code and see if it comes back....

it is a flow sensor that measures pressure drop across an orfice. I don't know what ford calls it but it has two small hose connections that hook up to the tube that brings the exhaust to the EGR valve.

hmmm not sure... see if autozone has it so you can touch it. The vacuum regulator is what opens and closes the valve. If i had to guess the pressure sensor is the flow sensor. Just try cleaning yours first.... maybe it would be free to fix!

ok..ok..went to look at truck...

sorta flat piece with a two wire plug on its right side and 2 rubber hoses on the left that connect to the tube from egr to manifold..

it is located just left of the egr valve

what is the one just left of the one above?

the one you describe with the two hoses is the flow sensor.... send a picture if you want for the other's identity....

2 rubber small {maybe 1/4 inch inside diameter hoses,} that go from sensor to the metal tube that goes from egr to exhaust manifold
