Just bought a 97 EB 4x4 with 189,000 miles this past Saturday (1/1/11) and there are some issues with some of the electrical stuff. I've looked at every fuse, and unless there is a fusebox that I haven't found, they all appear to be good. I did find a blown fuse for the Foglights relay so I got them working again.

1. The rear wiper does not work, but the rear washer pump does.

2. The rear window vents do not move on either side when you push the buttons.

3. The Cruise Control doesn't work.

4. The 4WD doesn't work. No lights light up on the dash when you turn the switch, and you can't hear any noises either.

Given that the fuses all look to be intact (visually checked, not with a multimeter), is there maybe a common plug somewhere that ties the rear wiper motor and vents together?

On the Cruise Control it appears that everything is connected under the hood.

Where do I need to start? The last Ford I owned was 1991 Festiva.

This is just a bigger vesion of the Festiva. There is a relay box under the hood just ahead off the brake master cyl. I'd start there and at the minimum swap a couple relays around to see if the problem jumps too.

All these systems could have individual issues, but I'd suspect a power distribution problem.

Ok so can this be a problem with the GEM?

Today, the Rear vents started working when you hit the buttons. At first only the right side was working, but it was kinda hit and miss. At one point it just quit working again wide open. Sort of an "Oh Crud" moment there.

Then the left side started working. At one point when you cycled them open and closed they would act like the battery was dying and just stop.

Kinda scared to mess with them at all until I get this figured out.

Ok and and another thing. The day I bought this thing it was raining. I wonder how much it will cost to get the windshield seals replaced.

Need to look at the drains for the sunroof too.

Check your heat up front. If that is not working and your cruise control is not working it is probably fuse #5 on the interior fuse box. That fuse handles your cruise and heat/cold doors forward.

The heat doors are working. The only blown fuse in any of the boxes was the 5 amp foglamp relay fuse.
