Have you had issues with your daytime running lights? I have LEDs that are dead on my driver side, but dealer claimed that they aren't, yet you can see it with the naked eye.
What? So the dealer is saying they are fine even tho theres no light? wtf ?

Well apparently, 9/24 ford raised its ESP pricing, which was then reflected onto all the ford dealers that sell it, which then passed onto you and I.

I was waiting until my vehicle was closer to getting to 36k at 35k now, prior to buying. I was also saving money. I figured it was silly to finance a warranty (hindsight would have saved).

I had my list put together back in 3/24 from research from the major ones discussed on the form. I was going with the 10y/125k

Granger $3095 current $3455 +360 (100 deductible) prior quote, now $200
Flood $3095 current $3455 +360
Anderson $3120 current $3480 +360
Zeigler $3095 current $3730 +360
Lombard $3402 current $3959 +557

I'm quite disgruntled with this increase and the typical phone calls to all of them stating they can't match their old pricing. Same old excuse of material cost going up, yet the techs are not getting raises...

I wish I would have found a CPO gold vehicle to extend the ESP on them is almost 1.5k less than standard.

Also, amazing how you have to buy a separate $120 plan to cover the headlamps/ lighting.

Well, that is all just my vent of the day.
I am looking for a ESP for my 2021 that has 44K miles and am considering the Ford plan and also not happy with the increases... but what is a better option now? Many third party plans out there. What would be a better choice with similar or better coverage that is reasonably priced? I'm searching

Did you extend an Existing ESP or the Factory warranty? I have a 5 year ESP, that expires May 2025, I think I purchased through Flood. that I want to extend to Max Date.
I extended my original 72/75K Ford ESP with another Ford ESP. To be exact, you don't "extend" it per se. You get a new "used car" ESP. DO NOT let your current ESP expire. I got it 3 or 4 days before mine expired. If you do, you will need a $175 inspection, and they have the right to make you fix anything they find before they write the warranty. I bought mine thru Zeigler. An additional 36/36K with LED for around $2100. I'm now covered to 10 years or (almost) 100K miles. I don't plan to keep it that long, but you never know. I've shopped on and off for over a year and don't like anything enough to make the jump.

I would NEVER go with a third party warranty, at least not the ones that advertise on TV. I've read about how bad some fight any claim. As @bb37 said, some even restrict where you can go, or the parts used.

I do understand that I need to do this prior to my existing ESP expiration next May, just as needed to purchase the first ESP before the OEM 3/36 warranty expired.

Is there any practical difference in coverage between the "new car" Ford Premium Care ESP I have now and the replacement "used car" Premium Care ESP that I will purchase next May?

I believe they are pretty much the same. Both cover an alleged 1000+ parts. skimming the details, it even covers "some" trip interruption, basic rental car, towing, etc. Obviously, it doesn't cover paint, wear items, batteries, etc. I'm sure the details are online somewhere.

Thanks, I'll drill down on each. either way, it still does not prevent them from screwing us around.

2 years ago, the OEM positive battery terminal leaked acid (known problem on 2017 which they refused to fess up to) and destroyed the positive terminal on the cable / harness.

I understood the battery and "battery cable" (implying a 2' long point to point cable) would not be covered - however on 2015-2017 the battery terminal is a crimped on integrated part of a 10' long harness with dozens of connectors (certainly not a cable) costing over $400. They denied the coverage and quoted me over $900 for the repair. They also said the terminal could not be purchased separately from the harness.

Lied to again by the company many of us have been loyal customers to for decades. Found Ford's vendor and they sent me 1 for free. Later found the Ford part number for the terminal and bought a spare from Tasca Parts - stock item.

I have the Ford PremiumCare ESP with LED lighting etc..

I have water/condensation in my 3rd brake light and only 10% of the LED's work in it. Should the plan cover the replacement since it failed due to outside water?

@SyndicateZ ...when I worked at a big retail chain in college part time, we had a saying...."your mouth is your warranty". You'd think they'd cover it, but I bet they fight it.

Only ford, I had a third party zurich warranty on my 2012 f150 i got suckered into that was like 3,500. power train only 5y/100k. I did totally forgot about it when I replaced my manifolds on my own, which was a nightmare. I did utilize it at 99k prior to my 5y expiring to have timing cover, phasers, waterpump, chain, and bunch other crap associated in that area. That was able to make me break even with that warranty.

I ended up getting the 10y/125k mi for 3600. Just sucks these warranties are marketed as 10y when its only 7y. Although I'm confused about what this surcharge tab is?Screenshot 2024-12-07 095958.jpg

The Surcharge section is for vehicles that apply to any of the situations or usages listed at the time of ESP warranty purchase. They way they look at it, is if your vehicle in under 12m / 12mi (which yours is not at 35,000) then the new car warranty will cover all repairs for at least 2 more years so they discount the purchase price because of the reduced liability on the warranty.

Exactly. I paid less of a premium for my ESP because my vehicle was under 36k and was a CPO. You can't fool the Statisticians All you can do is try to find a honest dealer!!!

Going through this right now purchasing a 2020 XLT. Has 78k miles on it. Definitely adding the warranty.

Well, that's a bargin, considering that without the warranty, it usually cost about $800 to replace ONE side of the LED headlights, let alone the DRL's and/or fogs :)

But yea, I feel your pain, as simply EVERYTHING has went way, way up this year, from chewing gum to housing....

Just the other day, my neighbor was saying that he wants to sell his house (which is valued at about $250k) and move further away from the city, but even with the money he would get from his current house, he would have to either partially finance it or dip into his savings to make it feasible :(
What's sad is Ford clearly knows the headlights are expensive and a fail point and then use their bad quality to upsell "insurance" against them failing. Maybe Ford should fix the reliability issue.....

If they don't, their viability as an ongoing company is going to be in jeopardy. There are many long term Ford owners on here, including myself, that at present won't purchase a new Ford. For me, I'll wait a while longer as I don't NEED to make a purchase now. But within 3 years, I will need a new vehicle and if Ford has not gotten their house in order by then, I'll be spending my money elsewhere.

They just quoted me $4400 (remember, I'm in the anti-consumer State of FL) for 4 years/48k miles on a 2020 XLT with 78k on it. I may pass as it comes with a lifetime powertrain warranty from Ford that covers engine, trans, axles, transfer case. Seems super expensive for only 48k coverage.
