Baker, you have a limited slip rear end right? If so, check your fluid level and if it is slightly low, top off the fluid. With our trucks, if you loose even a little bit of fluid in an LS axle, it will give what you are seeing.

I had the type of thing but it only happened when I turned. Took it to the dealer and they said change the fluid. There is some kind of special additive in the fluid for the LS units. I know mine is a 2nd gen but the mechanic said it is for all expy LS units.

The additive is a Friction Modifier, some of the synthetic gear fluids have it in them already. Ford part # Ford CM19546A1

How to find if one has a LS or not. I have looked at the door sticker but can make head or tail.

Mine is an 05 EB BTW.

Thermo, Yes I do have a limited slip...I had front and rear both changed about 8k ago and added the additive for the limited slip...I will check them this week as I am putting in a new A/C compressor and clutch...mine is leaking a bit behind the clutch and its getting noisy.... don't want it to explode and go through the A/C system...Big bucks then!!!

I have had a U-joint give me this flutter feeling before but usually when they are loose...no signs of that...could it work just the opposite if it were seizing up?...they originals at 91k
