My son tried to use the DVD player today. I was with him helping. Before I put the dvd in, I pressed the play button to turn it on. I then put the dvd in and then the player just shut off. The control lighting when it's dark is lit, and I can seed the red ir LEDs are on. The radio responds by saying dvd cd when a button is pressed. The screen is black and the dvd won't eject. I pulled the fuse and it was ok. Still did not work. The only thing left I can try is taking the battery cable off.

They are cheap crap head units, prone to failure. It's a nice opportunity to replace it with an aftermarket NAV unit. You'll be much happier.
