Just bought a new '17 XLT. (my first "truck"). Any advise what to do while it's relatively clean? Put fluid film under? Bolt on skid plates?

Welcome to the site.
Add what you consider necessary to make it your own. With all the fancy electrical stuff I would consider an extended warranty since they are not cheap and some require programming.

You are going to love that new truck! Congrats! I posted a thread on extended warranties that you might want to read....so you won't have to reinvent the wheel. I haven't bought any of them yet but will likely go with the cheap Delta plan because they will cover most of the "tech" and the powertrain and those are the only things I really worry about anyway.

I don't know if you plan on doing much to it but be very careful not to do anything to void your warranty. I also recently found that our manual is incorrect re: headlights. I went to swap the stock halogens for LEDS and the manual shows H11 socket for low beam....not true, they are HB3's....just in case you get the same idea.

I also coated my front/rear glass with Aquapel....works great BUT folloow the directions and don't let it dry by itself or you will be rubbing till the cows come home. It dries on it's own to an almost oily finish that just seems to smear and is very hard to actually remove but apply it correctly and it's fantastic!!

Thankfully, I explained this to the seller and they are accepting a full return on the H11 LEDs.

Finally- good on you Stamp for posting that info on the knockoffs....a lot of folks get mislead!
