Ok...2nd modification...bought some black 3/8" to 3/8" silicone tubing from Amazon ($8 for 5ft length). It was still maybe 1mm wider than the loom to make a snug fit without using the brass barb coupler. But when used with the brass coupler, the silicone tubing sleeved over it very snug for a real good fit

Result is that the severed loom is held together by the brass barb coupler like I originally had it, and the silicone tubing keeps the loom and coupler snug together. The brass is no longer exposed and so it should not cause any scratches when the hatch is closed, and the loom has a layer of protection now. Fluid still flows well for the rear wiper. I think the issued is temporarily solved for now.

I don't understand, have we determined that there is no inner hose, that a super thin loom (albeit without the split) is what Ford used to transport washer fluid that over time can be a bit caustic? Between heat/cold/constant moving and caustic fluids over time its not surprising at all that these are failing. How far in does the loom style tubing go? i.e. it can't possibly go from the front reservoir to the tailgate with that, it's far too compressible and would get crimped or fail on its way back. And is this across the entire model range?

That screams safety recall, being to wash the rear glass and camera can be kind of important.

As far as I can tell, it is a loom tubing that's very narrow, no split, and there is nothing inside but a passageway for the rear wiper washer fluid to pass through. To me it's a very poor design as it does get crimped when the hatch is closed that's exactly how it got severed, after many years of it being pinched on.

I believe that it must be across all trims, as I have the Platinum trim.
