I was wondering if anyone has installed OEM fog lights from a Limited or higher trim, on a 4th gen XLT(2022). I can not seem to find much online about doing so. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello, I have an 2022 XLT and I bought the actual fog lights from FORD, after having them at hand I realized that I also needed the "FOG LAMP END COVER", also the "FOG LAMP BEZEL TRIM MOLDING" and some screws, also I needed a different "Headlight Switch" assembly since the one equipped doesn´t control fog lights. I have the fog lights at hand, and every other part is in the cart, but now I wonder if I will need a "fog light wire harness", and also, have the same concerns you have, how hard will it be to do this my self!

I believe you will need the harness. The expeditions without fog lights don’t have the connectors or wiring for the fogs built into the light harness, from the factory.

Looking into installing fog lights in our 22 xlt also. After talking with local Ford dealer it seems that without the factory wiring harness, light switch, relays, light bezels and actual fog lights doing a oem install is not practical. Dealer suggested I look into aftermarket items which would be compatible with the Expedition.

i think the factory fog lights are pretty worthless. Looks are on point but not a lot of light output. I would suggest going with a hight quality light from like rigid industries for Baja designs, or morimoto. Probably costs around the same but your lights will be so much better. Jmo.

Would you happen to have the part number for the fog lights?

Thank you for all these info. All these would be too much trouble for me. I just quit.

I was just told the same thing when I called the dealership about my 2024. I think I found all the parts needed but I was told they would have to take a look at it first to see if they could even do it and that would cost almost $300. I don’t understand why they can’t add/change the parts.

Stealerships usually don't install customer-supplied parts, OEM or otherwise, since that takes away their HUGE mark-ups, and would also void your warranty on a '24, as well as subject them to DOT scrutiny and regulatory concerns that they absolutely don't wanna deal with...

been there, done that, too many times, so unless it is something that absolutely requires in-depth stealership diagnostics or other OEM-only work, I just take the parts to my trusted local mechanic, who is ok with that, since it saves him time tracking them down....

Well I wanted them to order the parts and install them but they literally told me I should probably just go with aftermarket fog lights. ‍♀️ They acted like they couldn’t do it with ford parts but I could take it somewhere else so that’s probably what I will end up doing.

HM, my factory fog lights, on my Plat are killer. Super bright LEDs with great front projection. They light up the entire front like day.

You'll need the lights and the Ford harness. My 2023 has the connector on the fut side behind the bumper, with wiring to the Body Control Module. You also need the new headlight switch. Then you'd have to program the BCM with Forscan to recognize the fog lamps.

Probably $1000 in parts and a whole lot of trouble pulling the bumper cover and drilling out the rivets in the cover to install. Figure four hours' time? And wishful thinking that the Forscan programming will work.

I'm glad I happened to see this post. I'm looking at '22-24 lightly used Max to replace my 2014 EL LTD. I saw that (most?) XLT's did not come with factory fogs, so now I'm concentrating more towards LTD or Platinum. We need fog lights up here in upstate NY. I really like my LTD trim too. I'd keep my '14 as I like the 5.4 V-8, but the rust has taken out the rockers and working it's way in. Only 116k miles and runs prefect too. Damn...

Edit to add...my previous 2004 Tahoe did not have fogs, but the wiring was all in place. $3o from Ebay and I had a set that installed easily. I was thinking the same route with XLT, but not messing with all this electrical crap that needs to get along...

I ended up with a Platinum, because I like to add killer stereo systems, custom 22" wheels, love panoramic roofs, led exterior lighting, fog lights, premium leather interior, CCD, heavy duty tow package and more. When I added up all I would do to an XLT, to get it to my liking like my Excursion was, I realized it would exceed the cost of just getting the features factory.
There are some great deals out there. I would definitely purchase from a Ford dealership to get the Gold Certified warranty, for peace of mind. That way you are covered for the infamous issues that may arise for 7 years from new and 100,000 miles. A $100 deductible is way cheaper than the cost of a transmission.

Thanks Mr. Big,
I forgot about the HD tow package...I had that on my '14 and my "new" one will as well. I don't see it mentioned on the XLT's. I'm all for the GC warranty too. I bought the extended Ford warranty with my '14 when I bought it in 2018 w/80k. I just about broke even with the cost, maybe $100 to the negative. Peace of mind is exactly why I bought it, especially with all the electronic crap in these things. If my '14 was worth fixing, I'd keep it...it's been a great truck.
When I bought the warranty from my dealer (who is also a good friend), he told me about the $100 deductible, and that $100 would cover any and all repairs that it came in for at that time. I told him the next time he sees my EXP., it'll be on a flatbed. Ha. Never happened, thankfully...
