AirAid or K&N are good ones, they are $345 shipped. Only exhaust I am finding is the Gibson side exit swept exhaust for $546.95 in stainless, $399 in aluminized, plus shipping (about $20-$30)

That's $20.00 (shipped) more than I'd pay at my local auto-body supply store. You'll need to do better than that if you're looking to generate business from the forum. Not giving you sh**, just sayin'. I'll pass.

That's not including the discount you get on here..

Fair enough. What's the discount? a CAI is my next purchase assuming its priced right. Have a look at my thread in the 2nd Gen forum. I bought this truck right so I'm planning on tuning it up nicely with some good aftermarket parts, but I need a reason to buy them somewhere other than my local store. Give me a reason 3rd Strike! :drool2:

Your Forum discount is 5%. We also have a discount for military of 10% (proof of service is required). You can only use one or the other though, not both.

3rd Strike,

10% off (and yes I have military ID) of $292.95 is $29.30. That's a total of $263.65. I walked into AutoZone this afternoon and could have ordered and had the K&N FIPK CAI shipped to my house within one business day for $239.67 including tax and shipping. That's $23.98 under your discounted cost going through a standard retail location. This is not to mention the deals on Ebay (all-be-it probably without warranty) which are substantially cheaper than that. I'm not posting this to call you out, but rather to drive home the point that if you're looking to build up a loyal customer base here on the forum (or any forum or online community) you need to offer deals which can't be found at standard retail locations. I was in the manufacturing / distribution business for years (we manufactured underwater lighting) and a good 30% of my sales were generated from boating / fishing / waterfront living forums like this one. I offered heavily discounted units (sometimes loss-leaders) in the hopes that we would generate "word of mouth" business through referrals, and it worked. It's up to you how you go about your marketing, but I can promise you you're not going to get business from this forum if you're marking up your products upwards of 10% over standard retail. Hope you don't take this as a "flame" post because it's not intended as such...I'm just trying to help. Good luck.

J

If they are selling it under $272.19, they are violating K&N's MAP pricing and they will be reported as doing so...I just checked AZ'z website, and it lists for $272.19 on there...so either someone is giving you a dealer discount, or they are cheating the system somewhere....

MAP (or Minimum Advertised Pricing) is the price by which a retailer is legally bound to "advertise" a product. It doesn't reflect in house discounts which the retailer is permitted to apply. Indeed, it's illegal for a manufacturer to detail standard retail pricing in their distribution agreements. As such, they can be limited in terms of how much the item is advertised for (and even how much it is stickered for in the store) but there is no way a manufacturer / wholesaler can bottom or top cap the APP (Actual Price Point).

Guess the bottom line is that you're more expensive than the average main street retailer, so as much as I'd like to, I can't give you my business. Good luck.
