So i was having issues with my trans like it was going into neutral when shifting from second into third and just revving out. I changed all the electronics inside fluid and filter and nothing changed so yesterday i took my expedition to my buddys house because he said i could have a trans out of his 97 expedition. Mine is 2000 so after looking online i saw that i would have to change all the electronics inside. After i get the transmissions setting side by side take the valve body off of mine I see right away that the retainer for the 2-3 accumulator piston was bent up so i pulled it out and the spring was broke into pieces. The piston still looks good and moves up and down but i went ahead and swapped everything over to the 97 trans. The 97 trans has 140,000 miles and the fluid looked very good. It came out of a ex k9 unit so im assuming it was flushed regularly. The bad with the trans is that we had to drill out 4 of the 6 bolts that hold the transfer case adapter on but we did get it on last night. Todays job is getting 3 of the 4 exhaust studs out of the manifolds that broke off and then putting the trans back in.
