Freon smell

Haven't drove the expedition in over 3 weeks. Walked into the shop where it's parked this afternoon & could smell freon. Didnt smell freon this morning. Started the engine & turned on the a/c & the compressor won't engage. Has anyone else ever had the freon leak out just setting?

Haven't had it leak out from just setting but when an o-ring lets go or a service port doesn't hold they tend to empty out.

All the freon leaked out yesterday. Today no freon smell. I'll check it out this spring when it warms up. Hard to trouble shoot when it's so cold.
