Hello all, :) I'm new here I have a question or two. First, the other day we noticed that the first speed on the front A/C (the standard knob type control) doesn't work, it blows no air at all. But speeds 2-4 all work. I talked to my grandfather, who had the same problem with his 97 Chevy Cavalier, he said its not the actual rotary knob itself, but it's the control circuit board that controls the blower motor, that corrosion messes it up, that low speeds won't work but high ones will- exactly the problem we have. He said sometimes they can be a pain in the rear to replace. We have the Haynes repair manual, I haven't look in it for this yet, I was hoping somebody here would have some knowledge of this issue, and how easy it will be to fix ourselves. Second problem, possibly related, when on Max A/C, on speeds 3 and 4, the front air will randomly and often switch between the torso vents, and the window vents. As you might imagine, this is a little annoying. Could this be caused by the same circuit board malfunctioning? Thanks in advance for any help!

Yea, the 1 speed not working is happening to me as well. Been meaning to fix it, but haven't gotten around to it. I'll get around to it once this week is over (2 exams to study for.)

Meanwhile I'll pull up the past threads on this (in one of them I said I was going to take the dash off...but haven't gotten around to it.)

A/C blower motor speed control

look on the pass. side, up under the i/p. You,ll find two 7, or 8 mm screws
that secure the blower motor speed control resistor assy. Seems to be a humidity concern that, over time, causes it to rust, etc.
I got one online for $9.00 plus $5.00 shipping...
My 02 F150 had the same symptom.....good luck!
