Hi fellow 1st Gens. 1st post, sadly to get help w/99 exp 4x4. I have a 99 with 86k that significant other ran into Toy Highlander, both totaled. Too sad to see her go off to the crusher so bought it back from Insurance co for $600. Hope this is not a fools errand, but the elephant in the room is that the RH axle housing (not the CV) is split wide open and clearly needs to be replaced for any hopes of keeping her on the road. Finally getting to the question - have seen posts that "newer" expeditions the axle will just come out when disconnected from CV, others say there is a "clip" in the housing that needs to come out first. Factory manual is not much help. Clip or no Clip? Thanks for anticipated help.
