I recently had to replace my power window motor. The window appeared frozen and would not go up or down. The dealer wanted $235 for the regulator which is supposedly attached to the motor and they dont separate one from the other. They wanted about $200 additional to install it. The issue was the motor. there was nothing wrong with the regulator. I was fortunate enough to learn from someone on the internet that where the motor sits behind the panel there are three dimples in the metal of the door after you remove the panel and these dimples are exactly where the motor is connected to the regulator. Without having to remove the regulator and by using a half inch drill, I was able to drill through the dimples and right behind each dimple was a screw. By removing the screws I was able to get the motor out all by itself. When I connected it back to test it, the motor seemed to be freezing up. I took it apart greased it, put it back together and re installed it. It has been working like a charm ever since. I also found places where I could have purchased just the motor for around $45.00. Everyone I spoke with including the dealer said that you could not separate the motor from the regulator that when the motor went you had to replace both. That is definitely not true.
