drives down road fine but while making turns at slow speed it feels like front axle is locked in 4x4, front wheels start hopping and feels like they are on a bind??? i renewed the transfer case shift motor and both sensors that plug into transfer case also took it to the ford dealership they said only thing they could come up with is that the tires are different size than should be on there 265's instead of 275's but i had these tires for 2 years now no problems til now...anyone have an idea on what is goin on with this?

My 2000 AWD is doing the same thing. I read on some forum that the AWD transfer case has clutches inside and that old fluid can cause this occurance. I've changed the fluid twice now, both times I saw a noticeable improvement. The second time I changed the fluid it was as dark as the first. It takes two quarts of Mercon IV so it's fairly quick and inexpensive fix if you have the right tools. It's been three months since my last change and four months between the first two, I've got 166k miles on her. I think I can change it a few more times compared to the cost of a rebuild. Hope that helps.
