Mine was doing that too, I had to pull the door apart when the glass came free from the track, so when I was in there I greased all the sliders and gears for the power window and pulled the molding from the sides of the window and cleaned the crap out of it. Has not made a sound since, and it's noticeably faster too.

Either the tracks or the mouldings. Cleaning the mouldings may not be enough, but its easy to do when you are in there. I had to clean mine since it is so dry in Colorado, mouldings dry and crack, and before that happens, we get the CREEEEEEEEEK.

What's a good grease ?

Years ago I had a Bronco with a power rear window that sounded like it was grinding sand. A buddy borrowed it and returned the truck with the noise eliminated. He said he used silicone spray. Dunno if he sprayed the mechanism, the mouldings or both but the silence was golden.

This thread reminds me that my Expedition's driver's window has been loud for so long that I've gotten used to it. Will try the silicone and report back.

Tried the spray silicone all around. Top and sides rubber contact with glass. Didn't hurt. I am awaiting unprompted notice from the other drivers in our household

...boy you ain't kidding. I did mine early in the week and performance was OK at first, flying up and down silently today. Esp the '95 Aero.
