I have run into a unique situation where the fuel hose in the tank (after the fuel pump) ruptured. I have an extra fuel pump fitted on the line as part of the Procharger supercharger that was fitted. The dealer claims that the pipe failed and it caused the second pump to burn out.

Any thoughts on what could have caused the pipe to bubble and rupture? Is it possible for the second pump to have failed and then causing the fuel not to flow thus building pressure in the hose?

I would go with the dealer here and say the hose failed leading to the booster pump to fail. Really dont think the fuel pump is strong enough to take out the hose under normal circumstances. The hose is rated for fuel correct?? If it is stock it obviously is but if someone replaced it for whatever reason....

I have similar setup in my stang and had my booster pump fail due to bad relay. It still ran but it would ping badly when it started going into boost which lead me to find the faulty relay. I was surprised it ran at all with the booster pump disabled.

It was the stock factory hose. I am not very technically inclined and it sounded fishy for a stock hose to bubble and pop 2 weeks after having the booster installed. Got it replaced and will see if the new booster pump lasts...

My explorer actually has the same problem several weeks ago. It happened that the bke was breaking up when I would get between 1500-4000RPMS. It was driving me crazy and such an annoying thing. I got quoted from a repair shop which charged me to much. However today for the VERY first time I tore down the bike and removed the gas tank, removed the fuel pump and found that the hose was deteriorated. I believe gas tanks have duration of used and should definitely be replaced before that duration or else would create a big problem on the vehicle.
