Online search did not provide a definitive answer.

Anyone know approximate fuel amounts per line graduations on fuel gage?

Are there more gallons in the top half of the gage, or more in the bottom? I'm suspecting more gallons are
in the top half, and indicated fuel consumption accelerates after half-tank.

For example: my 2004 xp has a 27 gal. fuel capacity. At half-tank, are the gallons remaining about 13.5, or less?

The biggest issue is whether your sending unit in tank/fuel pump is behaving. I never trust them 100 percent, is why I top up when I get to around 130-150 miles on my odometer. I only get around 10 mpg avg, and I go to work at 7:00 am. Last thing I need is to wonder if I'll make it to work!

Thanks, moose. There must be a design factor involved with fuel consumption that coincides with gage graduations that determines 'miles remaining' at any given point.

My gage seems to move slower at top half-gage than when at bottom-half gage, which would follow that there are more gallons in the top-half (?).

You must have a short commute to work if you are concerned at refueling at 130 -150 miles. When working (31 years ago) I commuted 75 miles round trip daily. I remember
gas was about $.29/gal in 1956. And diesel fuel for my fish boat was $.17/gal. My last boat carried 1500 gallons of diesel. Try refueling without crying at today's price.

My first job besides a paper route at the then new Arco gas station, previous Atlantic Richfield. Our prices in 1969 was 29.9cnts per, across the street their was a Regal station now Chevron, they had a wooden 2 sided sign that read gas war, 28.9 cents. Ah the good old cheap days. Used to fill my Yamaha dirt/street bike for 60cents!
