I purchased a pre-owned 2007 Expedition EL, and I love it!. Specs say it has a 33.5 gallon fuel tank. When the info center tells me it is "empty," I can only get 26-27 gallons into it. Something doesn't jive. Do I really have 6-7 more gallons and 90-100 miles before empty? Is there some trick to recalibrating the gas level indicator? I am puzzled, and no one has yet been able to explain this. The most frequent suggestion I have gotten from Ford - drive until it runs out and then fill it up to see. Ha Ha. Anyone else out there with the same situation?

Those computers are just estimates, based on current speeds, and MPG's to use up what should be left. I have an 07 El Limited sometimes I can put in 29 to fill it. Then ambient temperature will effect the whole what is truely a gallon thing. That is usually posted on the pump.

Dont forget that you also have that extra gas in the fuel filter and the lines before you totally run out of gas. But that would be bad if you run it completely dry and you're miles away from the nearest gas station.
